Palentino

The Palentino was an no frills bar situated in Malasaña neighboorhood in Madrid. Their cheap sandwiches were the salvation of many night owls for decades but the owners retired some years ago and the sign was stolen overnight.

Although it’s impossible to keep such a cheap place in a now gentrified neighborhood and now it’s not the same place at all, the new owners and their design studio, Happy Ending, wanted to keep the old sign to keep the link with the past. The original one was made with cheap plastic letters, so this is not the best lettering in the world, but it remains as a memory of what once was the Palentino.

(Palentino didn’t resist the lack of tourists due to Covid crisis and closed its doors in 2021)
